The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4448 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal on milling machines and machining centers. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 15/32-inch (0.4688-inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 1/2-inch shank and a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, giving machinists a rigid, versatile option for roughing passes in a wide range of workpiece materials. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction with a high helix style promote efficient chip evacuation during heavy cuts.
This roughing end mill is suited for job shops, production machining environments, and toolroom applications where stock removal speed is the priority. The three-flute configuration balances chip load and cutting pressure, making it effective for slotting, peripheral roughing, and stepped pocketing operations. The centercutting design allows for plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding flexibility to the setup. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working with vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in any standard 1/2-inch end mill holder, collet chuck, or milling adapter compatible with a single-end, straight-shank tool.
Installation is performed by machinists using an appropriate end mill holder or collet rated for the 1/2-inch shank diameter. Power down and lock out the spindle before securing or removing the tool. Ensure the tool is seated to proper engagement depth in the holder and that the set screw or collet nut is tightened to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as damaged flutes on a roughing tool can increase cutting forces and reduce surface quality on the workpiece.
