The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4111 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for milling ferrous and hard alloy materials in machining centers and manual milling machines. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The 7/16 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1/2 inch shank, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 4-1/8 inch overall length. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. The bright uncoated finish is suitable for use with a wide range of cutting fluids. Both ends are usable, extending tool life and reducing per-cut cost.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose peripheral and slot milling in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. It performs well on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys where cobalt tooling is the standard choice. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry match the majority of conventional vertical milling setups. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling. This tool is typically installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for 1/2 inch straight-shank collets and end mill holders used in vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per OSHA and facility lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or retention knob to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the collet bore and tool shank for chips or damage before seating the tool. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the cut.
