The VALUE COLLECTION 723-4108 is a cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal and profiling operations in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this double-end tool offers a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) cutting diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle for efficient chip evacuation. The four-flute spiral configuration supports smooth side milling, slotting, and light shoulder work. The bright, uncoated finish retains the base material properties without added coating complexity. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill in manual mills and CNC machining centers on ferrous and harder non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is suited for precision milling work in job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments. The double-end design effectively doubles usable tool life before disposal, making it a practical choice for shops managing tooling costs on common milling operations. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders across most vertical milling setups. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling with typical spindle rotation. Center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as peripheral cutting.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch shank end mill for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, and set-screw holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank diameter on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered off or in an e-stop state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute tools.
