The VALUE COLLECTION 723-3403 is a cobalt square end mill designed for milling operations that demand heat resistance and edge retention beyond what standard high-speed steel tooling can provide. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end mill features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with four spiral flutes for efficient chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear. Machinists and tool and die professionals use this end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and hard materials.
This end mill fits standard milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills that accept a 3/8 inch shank. The extra-long overall length of 3.75 inches makes it suitable for applications requiring extended reach into deep pockets or stepped features where a standard-length tool cannot access the workpiece. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups.

Install using a collet, end mill holder, or set-screw holder rated for a 3/8 inch shank; verify runout before cutting. Power down the spindle and lock it out before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling in the workpiece material to avoid premature edge chipping. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when taking full-depth passes.
