The VALUE COLLECTION 723-3217 is a square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers strong heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling, making it a practical choice for harder steels and stainless alloys. The 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cut surface. At 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and 3.875 inches overall, this is a standard-reach, single-end tool suited to knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual bridgeport-style machines.
This end mill is used in job shops, maintenance shops, and production environments handling slot milling, peripheral milling, and shoulder milling operations. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The bright uncoated finish is appropriate for applications where coating buildup or heat interaction with certain materials would be a concern, and it accepts regrinding cleanly. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration match standard spindle rotation on conventional milling machines.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling addition for any milling machine accepting a 0.75-inch straight shank end mill, including R8 collet setups, ER collet chucks, and side-lock tool holders common in manual and CNC milling applications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before inserting or removing the end mill from the tool holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet or set screw is torqued to the tool holder manufacturer specification before beginning any cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as a damaged edge on cobalt tooling can fracture under load.
