The VALUE COLLECTION 723-2048 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers added heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) mill diameter, a 13/16 inch (0.8125 inch) length of cut, and a 1/2 inch shank diameter, with a 3-3/4 inch overall length. The double-end configuration extends tool life by providing two usable cutting ends. Spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows plunge milling when needed. The bright uncoated finish is suitable for use with or without cutting fluid.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. It is appropriate for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers, knee mills, and manual bridgeport-style machines. The 2-flute design provides larger chip gullets, making it a practical choice for slotting and pocketing in tougher materials where chip clearing is a priority. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional and climb milling in typical CNC and manual setups.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 1/2 inch collets and end mill holders on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and similar machine tools.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the 1/2 inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate shank engagement to minimize runout and deflection. Verify spindle speed and feed rate calculations for the workpiece material and depth of cut before beginning the operation. Replace the end mill if chipping, excessive wear, or burning is observed on the workpiece surface.
