The VALUE COLLECTION 723-2028 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tooling cannot match in demanding cuts. The cutter measures 9/32 inches (0.2813 inches) in diameter with a 9/16-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, making it a compact choice for close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and plunge milling on vertical and horizontal mills. Licensed tradespeople and machinist technicians handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temp alloys are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for job shop, maintenance, and production environments where operators need a reliable general-purpose cutter for steel and stainless steel workpieces. The double-end configuration extends useful tool life by providing two cutting ends per shank. With a right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute at a 30-degree helix angle, it is compatible with standard vertical milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers running conventional end mill toolholders with 3/8-inch bore capacity. Center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 3/8-inch bore end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style side-lock holders on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool-and-die technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify that the 3/8-inch shank is fully engaged to the minimum insertion depth required by the holder to prevent tool pullout under cutting loads. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before use, and select appropriate speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material per standard machining references.
