The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1664 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal and profiling in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt steel, this double-end configuration delivers two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between changeouts. The mill features a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) cutting diameter, a 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch) length of cut, and a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) shank diameter. With a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, it produces efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temp alloys. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required or where re-sharpening is planned.
This end mill is suited for light profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations on ferrous metals, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The long-series overall length of 3-1/4 inches (3.2500 inches) provides extended reach into pockets and features that standard-length end mills cannot access. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard CNC and manual milling machine spindle configurations. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without pre-drilling. Machinists, toolroom operators, and production mill hands working in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments are the primary users.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (workpiece material codes P, M, K, S). Fits any milling machine or machining center with a 3/16 inch collet or end mill holder accepting a right-hand spiral end mill.
Installation is performed by machinists using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized to the 3/16 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing or seating the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after chucking to avoid premature cutting edge wear. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for cobalt tooling in the specific workpiece material being cut.
