The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1638 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for material removal and profiling in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. With a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) cutting diameter and a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) length of cut, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temp alloys. The M42 cobalt material grade provides elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining edge stability. The bright/uncoated finish allows machinists to inspect edge condition easily and suits a broad range of cutting fluids.
This end mill is suited for use on manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills in job shop and production environments. The double-end configuration doubles usable tool life, making it cost-effective for shops running high volumes of ferrous and exotic alloy parts. At 2-1/4 inches overall length with a 3/16 inch shank diameter, it fits standard collets and tool holders in that size range. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel and stainless components where moderate depth of cut and precise corner geometry are required.
Designed for use with ferrous workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, as well as high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, S). Fits any milling spindle or collet system that accepts a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per standard machine guarding practice. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine or holder manufacturer specification before starting the spindle. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool change when tight-tolerance work is required. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material — overshooting these parameters in cobalt tooling can cause premature edge failure or chipping.
