The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1636 is a cobalt square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers hardness and heat resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The tool measures 0.0781 inches (5/64 inch) in cutting diameter with a 15/64-inch length of cut and a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Its 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill ships uncoated with a bright finish and is configured as a double-end tool, extending usable tool life. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this tool in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, shoulders, and profiling operations on ferrous metals and high-temp alloys in both job shop and production environments. The double-end configuration makes it a practical choice where tooling economy matters. At 2-1/4 inches overall length with a regular-length designation, it fits standard collet and end mill holder setups without extended-reach adapters. Centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpiece material, adding operational flexibility. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction conform to standard CNC and manual mill spindle rotation.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and milling machine spindles accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (material codes P, M, K, S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolroom procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a collet or end mill holder to the appropriate torque per the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the cut, particularly at this small diameter where deflection risk is elevated.
