The VALUE COLLECTION 723-1634 is a double-end cobalt square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and high-strength materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tooling cannot match. The 1/16 inch cutting diameter and 3/16 inch length of cut make it well suited for fine-detail slotting, profiling, and contouring passes where a small tool footprint is required. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while reducing cutting forces. Two flutes provide chip clearance in tighter pockets. This tool ships bright and uncoated, ready for direct use on the shop floor.
This end mill is intended for use on manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills handling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The double-end configuration doubles usable tool life, making it a practical choice for production environments and job shops working in challenging materials where tooling costs are a consistent concern. The 3/16 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and toolholders common to small-diameter end mill work.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (material codes P, M, K, S). Fits any toolholder or collet accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully powered down and at a complete stop. Secure the shank firmly in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder to the full recommended engagement depth — inadequate clamping on small-diameter tools increases deflection and breakage risk. At 1/16 inch diameter, this tool is sensitive to runout; verify toolholder and spindle runout with a dial indicator before use. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut when working with cobalt end mills in hardened or abrasive materials.
