The VALUE COLLECTION 722-4012 is a double-end, 4-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. Built from M2 grade HSS, it offers a good balance of toughness and wear resistance suited to a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3/16 inch cutting diameter and 1/2 inch length of cut make it well suited to slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on smaller workpieces. The TiN coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in production environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the typical end users for this type of tooling.
This end mill is used in vertical milling machines, manual knee mills, and CNC machining centers for operations requiring a small-diameter cutter with controlled chip evacuation. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and efficient chip flow. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, reducing per-edge tooling cost in light-duty applications. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 3/8 inch tooling. Cutting direction is right-hand with a right-hand spiral flute pattern.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch shank end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center equipped with a 3/8 inch collet, side-lock holder, or compatible toolholder; no specific model compatibility data was provided by the manufacturer for this SKU.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with proper toolholder torque procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is off or the E-stop is engaged before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening. This tool is not center-cutting and is not designed for plunge entry; use a ramping or helical entry path when starting a pocket.
