The VALUE COLLECTION 720-4048 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 15/32 inch (0.4688 inches) in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 1/2-inch shank diameter. The overall length is 4-1/8 inches (4.125 inches). Manufactured from M2 high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this end mill is suited for shops running conventional milling operations where coated carbide is not required. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending service life before replacement is needed. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople are the primary users.
This end mill fits standard milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers that accept a 1/2-inch straight shank. The regular-length body and 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry make it appropriate for face milling, slotting, and peripheral milling in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. It is a fractional-inch, standard-series tool suitable for production and maintenance machining environments. The non-centercutting design means it is not intended for direct plunge cutting; use a centercutting tool or pre-drilled entry point for pocket work.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch replacement end mill for milling machines and machining centers that accept a 1/2-inch shank. Compatible with ER collet chucks, Weldon set-screw holders, and similar 1/2-inch end mill toolholding systems.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before loading or removing any cutting tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the rated length of cut; extended engagement beyond the flute length can cause tool deflection or breakage.
