The VALUE COLLECTION 720-3124 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill manufactured from M2 high speed steel. It features a 1.25-inch cutting diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 1.25-inch shank diameter, yielding an overall length of 4.5 inches. The spiral flute geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for general-purpose milling operations across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom operators use this style of end mill for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling on manual or CNC machining centers.
This end mill is appropriate for use in machine shops, production environments, and toolroom applications where a fractional-inch, regular-length HSS end mill is required. The 1.25-inch diameter and 2-inch length of cut support moderate-depth slotting and side-milling passes on steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar materials. It is not centercutting, so plunge entry is not recommended without pre-drilled clearance. This is a single-end tool from the VC-HSS-4 series, designed for use with standard R8, CAT, BT, or collet-style toolholders accepting a 1.25-inch shank.
Designed as a standard fractional-inch HSS square end mill for use in any toolholder accepting a 1.25-inch round shank, including collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-flat-style holders common to manual mills and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom operator using the appropriate toolholder for the machine spindle. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer's guidelines, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Because this end mill is not centercutting, avoid direct plunge entry into solid material.
