The VALUE COLLECTION 720-3099 is a single-end square end mill designed for milling flat-bottomed slots, shoulders, and peripheral cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M2 high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it delivers reliable performance in general-purpose machining applications. The 1 inch diameter cutting edge is supported by 4 spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle, producing a right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. With a 1.875 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, this tool fits standard vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers using a 0.5 inch collet or end mill holder. It is a regular-length geometry suited to production shops and maintenance machinists alike.
This end mill is intended for horizontal and vertical milling operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials in shop and production environments. The non-centercutting design means it is optimized for peripheral and slot milling rather than plunge cutting. The fractional-inch geometry and 0.5 inch shank make it compatible with standard toolholding found in most job shops and maintenance facilities running manual or CNC mills. No extended reach, coolant-through, or chipbreaker features are present, keeping the design straightforward for everyday material removal tasks.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock end mill for manual knee mills, vertical machining centers, and CNC mills accepting a 0.5 inch straight shank in a collet chuck or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality.
