The VALUE COLLECTION 720-1620 is a double-end, two-flute square end mill designed for material removal and slot milling in ferrous metals and high-temperature alloys. Manufactured from M2 high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 3/16 inches in diameter with a 9/32-inch length of cut and a 2-inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temp alloy workpieces. This stub-length geometry provides rigidity in tight setups where tool overhang must be minimized. Machinists and toolroom operators rely on this end mill for manual mills, CNC knee mills, and benchtop machining centers.
This end mill is suited for light-to-medium material removal in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. Its double-end configuration effectively doubles tool life before disposal, making it a practical choice for high-volume repetitive operations or cost-conscious toolroom applications. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute direction are compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional milling machines. Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding setup flexibility across a range of milling tasks on steel and similar ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.
Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (material codes P, M, K, S). Designed for use in standard 3/16-inch collets or end mill holders on manual and CNC milling machines accepting fractional-inch tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard toolholding procedures for collet chucks or end mill holders. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify collet size matches the 3/16-inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the proper engagement depth before tightening. Inspect both cutting ends for chipping or wear before use and follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
