The VALUE COLLECTION 720-1606 is a double-end, two-flute square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M2 high speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 0.0781 inches (5/64 inches) in cutting diameter with a 0.125-inch (1/8-inch) length of cut. The 30-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 2 inches overall length with a 0.1875-inch (3/16-inch) shank diameter, it fits standard collet and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary installers and operators.
This stub-length end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The double-end configuration doubles usable tool life, making it practical for production and job-shop environments where minimizing downtime matters. Its compact stub-length geometry provides rigidity in tight setups where extended reach tools would deflect. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into workpiece material without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Compatible with milling machines and machining centers using standard 3/16-inch collets or end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and high-temperature alloys (S) per ISO material classification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Secure the shank firmly in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring the tool is seated to the correct gauge length before tightening. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and tool diameter to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
