The VALUE COLLECTION 700-007012A is a rectangular tungsten carbide blank intended for use in tooling, machining, and fabrication applications. Supplied in an unground condition, this blank gives machinists and tool grinders a starting point for custom cutting tool profiles. It measures 5/16 inches in length, 3/16 inches in width, and 3/32 inches in thickness. Rated at carbide grade C5 and industry grade I-55, it belongs to the Series 1000 product line and meets industry specification 1040. At approximately 0.005 pounds, it is a compact insert-class blank suited for precision toolroom work.
This carbide blank is used in toolrooms, machine shops, and production environments where operators need to grind or braze custom cutting edges onto tool holders, boring bars, or lathe tools. The unground state allows the end user to finish-grind the blank to a specific geometry or relief angle. It is appropriate for both one-off tooling setups and small-batch production scenarios requiring custom carbide geometry.
Designed as a general-purpose unground carbide blank suitable for brazing or mounting into standard tool holders and custom tooling setups that accept rectangular carbide inserts of this size class.
Carbide blanks of this type are typically handled by toolroom machinists or tool grinders using diamond grinding wheels. Secure the workpiece properly before grinding to prevent chipping or fracture. Eye protection and appropriate dust controls should be in place when grinding carbide. Brazing applications require appropriate flux and silver-alloy brazing rod per standard toolroom practice.
