The VALUE COLLECTION 6BN3/8X8 is a Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe nipple with NPT threading on both ends. It measures 3/8 inch in nominal pipe size and 8 inches in length, making it a close-cut threaded connector used to join sections of pipe or connect pipe to fittings, valves, and equipment. Weighing 0.18 pounds, this nipple is suited for plumbing, HVAC hydronic systems, compressed air lines, and light industrial fluid-handling applications where corrosion resistance is a priority. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers. The stainless steel construction handles moisture-rich and mildly corrosive service environments where carbon steel would be a poor choice.
This pipe nipple is appropriate for residential and light commercial installations requiring a short threaded extension or connection between pipe runs. Typical applications include water supply lines, steam condensate systems, boiler trim connections, chilled water piping, and pneumatic supply lines. Schedule 40 wall thickness meets standard pressure ratings for general-purpose threaded piping systems. The NPT taper thread conforms to ANSI standards and seals with pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation threaded nipple for 3/8 inch NPT Schedule 40 piping systems in plumbing, HVAC hydronic, compressed air, and light industrial fluid-handling applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with the applicable plumbing code, such as the IPC or local authority requirements. Shut off the water supply or depressurize the line before removing any existing fitting or nipple. Apply PTFE tape or a code-approved pipe thread sealant to the male NPT threads before assembly. Do not overtighten threaded stainless fittings, as galling can occur — use a pipe wrench with steady, controlled force and back the fitting up with a second wrench on the mating connection.
