The VALUE COLLECTION 625-1360 is a magnetic indicator base designed to hold dial indicators, test indicators, and similar precision measuring instruments during inspection and machining operations. The base uses a strong 60 kg magnetic pull to anchor securely to ferrous surfaces such as machine tables, surface plates, and lathe beds. An articulated arm provides flexible positioning across multiple axes so the indicator can be placed at the exact angle and height needed. A built-in on/off switch lets the technician engage or release the magnetic hold without moving the workpiece or the instrument setup. Machinists, quality control technicians, and toolroom personnel are the primary users of this type of base.
This indicator base suits production and toolroom environments where repeatable, stable indicator positioning is required. Typical applications include runout checks on lathes and mills, surface flatness verification on inspection plates, and fixture alignment during setup. The base footprint of 2-1/2 x 2-1/8 inches and a height of 2 inches keeps the unit compact enough for use in tight setups. The articulated arm extends to a post height of 9-1/2 inches, providing reach for most standard indicator mounting scenarios.
Designed as a general-purpose magnetic indicator base compatible with standard dial indicators and test indicators that use conventional dovetail or lug-style mounting stems common in machining and inspection applications.
Ensure the mounting surface is clean, flat, and free of chips or oil before engaging the magnetic base, as contamination reduces effective holding force. Set the on/off switch to the off position before positioning the base on the surface to avoid abrupt attachment that could disturb nearby setups. Tighten all articulated arm joints to a firm, hand-snug level before taking measurements to eliminate indicator drift. This type of equipment does not require licensed trade installation but should be used in accordance with applicable shop safety procedures and metrology best practices.
