The VALUE COLLECTION 60051TN is a solid carbide octagon milling insert engineered for use in indexable milling cutters on CNC and manual machining centers. It carries a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating over a C5 carbide grade body, designated Ultra-Carb 5, which balances wear resistance with toughness across a range of metal-cutting applications. The insert measures 5/8 inch across the inscribed circle with a 3/16 inch thickness and a 1/16 inch corner radius. Its neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry promote clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Eight available cutting edges make this insert an economical choice for high-volume production environments where insert utilization matters.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. It is compatible with the Freedom cutter series and is identified by ANSI and ISO code PS45L-MTC54. The PS chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style are optimized for interrupted cuts and continuous passes on ferrous and hard-to-machine alloy workpieces. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing facilities are the primary users of this insert style.
Designed for use with the Freedom cutter series. ANSI and ISO designations PS45L-MTC54 apply. Insert is held by screw-clamping method. Confirmed primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the spindle drive before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and cutter-manufacturer-specified fastener for the screw-clamp seat to avoid seat distortion. Inspect the cutter pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert edge.
