The VALUE COLLECTION 556U2/0 is a straight-flute taper pin reamer designed for hole enlarging, hole finishing, and hole shaping operations on taper pin bores. Built from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers general-purpose performance in metal fabrication, maintenance, and machine shop environments. It accepts a 2/0 taper pin size with a small end diameter of 0.1137 inches and a large end diameter of 0.1462 inches, following a 1:48 taper rate. The square shank measures 0.1563 inches (5/32 inches) in diameter, providing positive drive engagement in a standard tap wrench or brace. Overall length is 2.5625 inches with a flute length of 1.5625 inches. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This reamer is suited for light-duty taper pin work in general machining, repair, and assembly applications. Taper pin reamers are commonly used when fitting taper pins into hubs, collars, levers, and similar mechanical components where a precise, interference-fit bore is required. The 2/0 pin size targets small-diameter bores found in precision assemblies and light mechanical linkages. Right-hand cutting direction means it is driven with standard clockwise rotation. It is appropriate for use in both production and maintenance environments where accurate taper pin fitment is critical.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock reamer for 2/0 taper pin applications in standard 1:48 taper pin bores across light mechanical assemblies and machine components.
Taper pin reamers are typically used by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tap wrench for hand reaming or a drill press at low speed with a suitable chuck adapter for the square shank. Always secure the workpiece firmly and apply a cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve a clean bore finish. Remove all chips frequently during the operation to prevent scoring. Do not force the reamer — consistent light feed pressure produces accurate taper geometry.
