The VALUE COLLECTION 5-690-020 is a convex radius cutter designed for milling concave profiles and radius forms on workpieces in a machining center or manual milling setup. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with an uncoated finish, this cutter features a 1/8 inch radius and a 1-1/4 inch cutter diameter, making it well suited for generating smooth, consistent curved surfaces on steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The 3/4 inch shank diameter connects via a Weldon flat interface for positive rotational drive and minimal slippage under load. With 6 teeth, it balances chip load and surface finish in typical profiling passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install and operate this cutter during mold work, fixture fabrication, and general profile milling operations.
This convex radius cutter is used in job shops, production machining environments, and tool rooms where accurate radius profiles are required on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3-1/2 inch overall length (OAL) provides adequate reach for most standard setups while maintaining rigidity. The Weldon flat shank seats securely in a standard end mill holder or Weldon-style collet chuck, making it compatible with common horizontal and vertical milling machine spindles. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both prototype and short-run production work where a consistent convex form is needed.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style convex radius cutter for use in standard Weldon flat end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 3/4 inch shank diameter on horizontal or vertical milling machines.
This cutter is installed and operated by qualified machinists following standard milling machine safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the set screw in the holder and torque the set screw per the tool holder manufacturer specification before engaging the spindle. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the cutter when radius profile accuracy degrades.
