The VALUE COLLECTION 44694 is a metric hex lock nut with a nylon insert locking mechanism, manufactured from Class 10 steel with a zinc-plated finish. Rated to DIN 985, this fastener uses a nylon collar embedded in the top of the nut to create friction against the mating thread, resisting loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. The M14x2 thread size and right-hand thread direction are standard across a wide range of metric mechanical assemblies. The zinc coating provides a baseline level of corrosion resistance for general-purpose indoor and light outdoor applications. Installation requires a 22 mm wrench across the flats.
This hex lock nut is suited for mechanical, structural, and equipment assembly applications where a prevailing-torque locking solution is required on M14x2 metric fasteners. It is commonly used by millwrights, mechanical contractors, equipment technicians, and maintenance professionals working on machinery, HVAC equipment frames, pump assemblies, and similar industrial or commercial hardware. The nylon insert style is appropriate for applications where the nut is installed once and the joint is not subject to extreme heat that would degrade the nylon locking element.
Designed for use with M14x2 metric threaded fasteners in applications conforming to DIN 985. Compatible with any standard M14x2 male-threaded bolt or stud with sufficient thread engagement length to engage the nylon insert fully.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanical technician or tradesperson familiar with metric fastener standards. Use a 22 mm open-end, box, or socket wrench to drive the nut to the required torque per the assembly specification. Nylon insert lock nuts are single-use fasteners — the nylon locking element loses effectiveness after removal and the nut should be replaced rather than reused. Avoid applications where sustained temperatures may degrade the nylon insert, such as exhaust-adjacent or high-heat equipment mounting points.
