The VALUE COLLECTION 418-4125 is a machined semi-steel right angle iron used to establish and hold precise 90-degree reference angles in layout, inspection, and machining setups. Standing 12 inches high, 5 inches wide, and 8 inches deep, this angle iron provides a stable, rigid base for workholding, surface plate work, and vertical part location. It is machined to a flatness and squareness tolerance of parallel to within 0.003 inches per 6 inches and square to within 0.004 inches per 6 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance metrology and production machining applications. A single hole is provided for clamping or fixturing. At 44 pounds, the mass contributes to stability during use.
This angle iron is suited for machine shops, tool rooms, and inspection departments requiring a reliable reference surface. Typical applications include vertical workholding on milling machines, surface plate layout, CMM fixturing, and part inspection setups. The semi-steel construction offers a balance of rigidity and machinability. It is appropriate for both job shop and production environments where repeatable angular reference is required.
Designed as a general-purpose right angle iron for use with standard surface plates, milling machine tables, and inspection fixtures in tool room and production machining environments.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or metrologist familiar with workholding and inspection practices. Clean all mating surfaces before placing the angle iron on a surface plate or machine table to prevent rocking and ensure accurate reference. Secure workpieces using appropriate clamps through the provided hole, and verify contact with a dial indicator before committing to a cut or measurement. Do not drop or strike the precision faces, as impact can alter the machined surfaces and void calibration.
