The VALUE COLLECTION 40903 is a zinc-plated steel extended prong cotter pin used to secure clevis pins, shaft pins, and fastener assemblies in mechanical and structural applications. Measuring 1/16 inch in diameter and 1-1/4 inches in length, this cotter pin features an extended prong design that allows the prongs to be bent back over or around a mating component after insertion, locking the pin firmly in place. The zinc plating provides a corrosion-resistant finish suitable for general-purpose indoor and light outdoor use. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and general contractors install this type of fastener across a wide range of equipment and structural assemblies.
The 40903 extended prong cotter pin is suited for light-duty mechanical assemblies where a positive locking fastener is required. Typical applications include linkage assemblies, clevis connections, agricultural equipment, HVAC damper linkages, and general fabrication work. The small 1/16 inch diameter makes it appropriate for use in close-tolerance pin bores and lightweight hardware. This pin is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 100 pieces, making it well suited for shop stock, maintenance kits, or production line use.
Designed as a general-purpose extended prong cotter pin suitable for light-duty mechanical assemblies, clevis connections, and linkage hardware requiring a 1/16 inch diameter locking pin.
Extended prong cotter pins are installed by inserting the pin through the aligned bore of the shaft and clevis or retaining hole, then bending the prongs apart or back against the component to lock the pin in position. Use needle-nose pliers or cotter pin pliers to bend prongs cleanly without cracking the zinc plating. Ensure the mating bore diameter is appropriate for a 1/16 inch pin before installation. Cotter pins are single-use fasteners and should not be straightened and reinstalled once removed.
