The VALUE COLLECTION 39629 is a nylon insert hex lock nut designed to resist loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. It is manufactured from Grade 8 steel with an uncoated finish and carries a 7/8-9 UNC thread specification. The nylon insert creates interference against the mating thread, providing a reliable locking function without the need for thread-locking compounds. This nut measures 63/64 inches in height with a width across flats of 1-1/4 inches. It is suited for high-strength fastening applications where a secure, reusable lock nut is required. Installation is performed by mechanics, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working across industrial, commercial, and equipment assembly environments.
This nylon insert hex lock nut is used in structural assemblies, mechanical equipment, and industrial machinery where vibration resistance is critical. The right-hand thread direction makes it compatible with standard threaded fastener assemblies. It is appropriate for static and low-to-moderate temperature applications, as elevated heat can reduce the effectiveness of the nylon insert locking element. Typical installations include equipment mounting, frame assemblies, and general mechanical fastening where Grade 8 strength is specified.
Designed for use with 7/8-9 UNC inch-series threaded bolts and studs in Grade 8 fastener assemblies requiring a nylon insert locking nut.
A licensed mechanic or qualified maintenance technician should install this nut using the appropriate open-end or socket wrench sized for a 1-1/4-inch across-flats dimension. Ensure the mating bolt or stud threads are clean and free of debris before installation. De-energize and lock out any equipment before fastener work is performed on live machinery. Nylon insert lock nuts should not be used in applications where sustained temperatures will exceed the thermal limits of nylon, as insert effectiveness will degrade.
