The VALUE COLLECTION 383-8616 is a TSE-style, square shank single-point boring tool bit designed for metal cutting applications on lathes and boring bars. It features a C6 grade solid carbide tip with a neutral cutting direction, making it suitable for straight-in boring passes where neither right- nor left-hand rake geometry is required. The shank measures 3/8 inches in both height and width, and the overall length is 1-3/4 inches. A 1/64 inch nose radius provides a controlled cutting edge profile suited for finish and semi-finish boring work. The compact size is a common fit for small-bore lathe tooling setups used by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This tool bit is intended for boring operations on manual and CNC lathes, toolroom machines, and similar turning equipment. The TSE-6 industry standard designation identifies its geometry and shank profile within the square shank boring tool series. The neutral cutting direction suits applications where the tool feeds directly into the workpiece without a preferred lateral rake bias, common in general-purpose internal diameter boring in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tool bit for square shank boring tool holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank with TSE-6 geometry.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank firmly in the tool holder set screw or clamp before powering the spindle. Ensure the tool centerline is aligned to the workpiece centerline before engaging the cut. Never exceed the tool holder manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for carbide-tipped boring tools.
