The VALUE COLLECTION 383-6342 is a left-hand, single-point offset threading tool bit designed for precision threading and V-grooving operations on a lathe. Built to EL-10 industry standard specifications, it features a C2 grade solid carbide tip brazed to a 5/8-inch square shank. The 60-degree included angle makes it well-suited for cutting standard V-threads and threading to a shoulder. At 4 inches overall length and 0.5 pounds, this bit delivers the rigidity and carbide hardness required for consistent, repeatable thread-form cuts in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and toolroom operators working with steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals will find this format reliable for high-volume threading runs.
This tool bit is intended for use in standard lathe toolholders that accept 5/8-inch shank stock. The left-hand cutting direction makes it appropriate for threading operations that require the carriage to feed away from the chuck, or for right-hand threads cut with reverse spindle rotation. The EL offset style positions the cutting edge for threading and V-grooving close to a shoulder, reducing the required runout distance. It is a common choice in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair machine shops where standard brazed carbide tooling is preferred over insert-based alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for lathe toolholders accepting 5/8-inch square shank single-point tool bits per EL-10 industry standard dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard shop safety procedures. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder with the cutting edge on centerline before engaging the workpiece. Ensure the lathe is fully powered down and the spindle is at rest before changing or adjusting tooling. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and carbide grade in use.
