The VALUE COLLECTION 383-6306 is an EL-style single-point tool bit designed for offset threading and V-grooving operations on manual and CNC lathes. The shank measures 1/4 inch in height and 1/4 inch in width, with an overall length of 2 inches. The cutting tip is solid carbide grade C6, ground to a 60-degree included angle, making it suited for cutting standard 60-degree thread forms. Left-hand cutting direction means material feeds right to left, allowing threading toward a shoulder. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this bit into compatible tool holders on production or jobsite turning equipment.
This tool bit is intended for threading and V-grooving applications where a left-hand cutting direction is required. The EL-4 industry standard designation applies to offset threading work on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Typical use cases include threading to a shoulder in close-clearance setups where a standard straight tool bit cannot reach without interference. The compact 1/4 inch shank size suits smaller tool posts and boring bar holders common in light-duty turning applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for 1/4 inch shank tool holders used in light-duty turning and threading operations on manual and CNC lathes.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe before seating or adjusting the tool bit in the holder. Ensure the tool bit is seated squarely and clamped securely before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the tool holder manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for carbide-tipped single-point bits.
