The VALUE COLLECTION 383-2076 is a single-point tool bit designed for general-purpose metal cutting operations in lathe and turning applications. Built to Industry Standard Number C-16, this Style C tool bit features a square nose profile and a neutral cutting direction, making it suitable for straight cuts without bias to either side. The tip is machined from C6 solid carbide, a grade chosen for its balance of hardness and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. At 1.87 pounds and 6 inches overall length, it offers the mass and rigidity needed to resist chatter during interrupted or continuous cuts. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the typical end users.
This tool bit is suited for use on manual and CNC lathes in production and job-shop environments. Its neutral cutting direction makes it a versatile option when the same holder must address multiple operations without retooling. Specified cutting applications include chamfering, facing, forming, and turning, covering the core lathe operations most shops encounter daily. The 1-inch square shank fits standard tool holders sized for that shank height and width.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit option for standard lathe tool holders accepting a 1-inch square shank at Industry Standard C-16 specification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before changing or seating the tool bit. Secure the shank firmly in the tool holder to the full clamping depth to minimize overhang and reduce vibration. Verify tool height alignment to the spindle centerline before taking the first cut.
