The VALUE COLLECTION 383-2012 is a C-style, square-nose, single-point tool bit designed for general metalcutting operations on lathes and turning centers. It features a C2 solid carbide tip brazed to a square shank measuring 5/16 inches in height and 5/16 inches in width, with an overall length of 2.25 inches. The neutral cutting direction makes it suitable for straight-line passes without a left- or right-hand bias. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians working in production and job-shop environments will find this bit well suited to moderate-speed, general-purpose cutting tasks where carbide grade C2 performs reliably.
This tool bit is intended for use in external turning, facing, chamfering, and forming operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Its compact 2.25-inch overall length fits standard small-bore tool holders and turret tooling blocks commonly found on manual engine lathes and CNC turning centers. The C2 carbide grade is a workhorse grade appropriate for continuous-cut applications on cast iron, steel, and similar workpiece materials at moderate cutting speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or equivalent for tool holders accepting a 5/16 inch square shank, single-point brazed carbide tool bit in the C-style profile.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the lathe is locked out before seating or adjusting the tool bit in the holder. Secure the shank firmly in the tool post or turret block to the appropriate clamping torque per the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the carbide tip for chips or cracks before use and do not run a damaged tip.
