The VALUE COLLECTION 383-1122 is a left-hand single-point tool bit designed for precision lathe and turning operations in metalworking applications. Built to BL-5 industry standard, it features a C2-grade solid carbide tip brazed to a steel shank measuring 5/16 inches in height and 5/16 inches in width. Overall length is 2.25 inches. The 15-degree lead angle geometry supports efficient chip flow and stable cutting at the workpiece. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators install this type of bit in tool holders on manual lathes and CNC turning centers. At 0.06 pounds, it is a compact, single-piece unit suited for light-duty boring, chamfering, interrupted cuts, and general turning work.
This tool bit is sized and styled for applications where a left-hand cutting direction is required, such as turning toward the tailstock or machining right-to-left along a workpiece diameter. Its C2 carbide tip grade is well-suited for general-purpose turning of cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and similar materials at moderate cutting speeds. The BL-style shank fits standard tool holders designed for 5/16-inch square shank bits, making it a practical replacement or addition in a shop-floor tool crib. Typical use cases include OD turning, light boring passes, and lead-in chamfers on both manual and CNC lathes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard addition for tool holders accepting 5/16-inch square shank, left-hand single-point tool bits per BL-5 industry standards.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-and-die trades on manual or CNC lathes. Before changing tooling, power down the spindle completely and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully in the tool holder and tighten set screws evenly to manufacturer specification for the holder in use. Inspect the carbide tip for chips or cracks before use — do not run a damaged tip.
