The VALUE COLLECTION 375-5140 is a right-hand boring bar constructed from M35 cobalt high-speed steel, designed for precision internal boring operations on lathes and machining centers. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.5 inches and a maximum bore depth of 2.5 inches, it handles a wide range of small to mid-size bore applications. The 0.75-inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard boring bar holders. Overall length is 4.25 inches. M35 cobalt grade offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel, making it suitable for harder workpiece materials and interrupted cuts.
This boring bar is suited for manual and CNC lathes in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. It is used when opening existing holes to precise diameters, correcting bore geometry, or finishing cast, forged, or pre-drilled workpieces. The right-hand cutting direction is the standard orientation for conventional lathe operation with the spindle rotating counterclockwise when viewed from the tailstock.
Designed for use in standard 0.75-inch boring bar holders on manual and CNC lathes configured for right-hand tooling.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank firmly in the tool holder with minimal overhang to reduce deflection and chatter. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or adjusting tooling. Verify bore diameter and depth settings against the workpiece drawing before beginning the cut.
