The VALUE COLLECTION 375-1866 is a right-hand carbide-tipped boring bar designed for internal diameter machining on lathes and boring mills. It accepts a minimum bore diameter of 1.5 inches and reaches a maximum bore depth of 6.25 inches, making it well suited for medium to large through-bore and blind-bore operations. The 1-inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard boring bar holders and turret toolposts. Tipped with C6 carbide grade, the cutting insert delivers good wear resistance on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose steel at moderate cutting speeds. Overall length is 8.25 inches. At 1.87 pounds, the bar has the mass needed for stable cuts while remaining manageable in most setups.
This boring bar is intended for production and job-shop turning operations where consistent bore geometry and surface finish are required. It is appropriate for use on manual engine lathes, CNC turning centers, and horizontal boring mills capable of accommodating a 1-inch shank. Typical applications include enlarging existing holes, finishing cast bores, and bringing bore diameters to final dimensional tolerance. It is installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel.
Designed as a standard right-hand boring bar for use in any lathe, CNC turning center, or boring mill equipped with a tool holding system that accepts a 1-inch round shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Before mounting, power down the machine and engage all lockout-tagout procedures per shop safety protocols. Secure the shank firmly in the boring bar holder with sufficient overhang minimized to reduce chatter; extend only as far as the bore depth requires. Verify tool height alignment to centerline before initiating a cut, and confirm coolant flow is directed at the cutting zone when machining ferrous materials.
