The VALUE COLLECTION 36836 is a flat socket cap screw designed for applications requiring a flush or countersunk head profile. The 82-degree flat head seats into a matching countersunk hole, leaving the fastener surface flush with or below the surrounding material. Drive engagement is via a 7/32-inch hex socket. The screw is fully threaded along its 1-1/2-inch length with a 3/8-16 UNC thread form, meeting ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F835 standards. Alloy steel construction with a black oxide finish provides moderate corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection in exposed installations. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians commonly install this fastener type.
This flat socket cap screw is suited for machine assemblies, fixtures, jigs, and structural connections where a recessed or flush head is required. The 3/8-16 UNC thread size is a common coarse-thread standard used across industrial equipment, machine frames, and fabricated steel components. Fully threaded construction allows engagement along the entire length, making it appropriate for thin material applications or wherever maximum thread engagement is needed without a plain shank section.
Designed as a standard 3/8-16 UNC fully threaded flat socket cap screw suitable for use in any application requiring an ASME/ANSI B18.3 or ASTM F835 compliant countersunk hex socket fastener in that thread size and length.
Installation is performed using a 7/32-inch hex key or socket bit; ensure the bit is fully seated before applying torque to avoid rounding the drive socket. The receiving hole should be properly countersunk to 82 degrees to allow full head seating. De-energize or lock out any equipment before fastener service in mechanical assemblies. Follow applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures when servicing powered equipment.
