The VALUE COLLECTION 36815 is a flat socket cap screw designed for applications requiring a low-profile, flush-mount fastener. It features an 82-degree flat head with a 5/32 inch hex socket drive and is fully threaded along its 1 inch overall length. The 1/4-20 UNC thread pattern is one of the most common inch-series thread sizes, making this screw a straightforward replacement or new-install option. Manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, it offers moderate corrosion resistance and is well-suited for indoor mechanical assemblies, fixture mounting, and general industrial use. Licensed trades and maintenance technicians working on equipment panels, brackets, or structural assemblies will find this a reliable standard fastener.
This flat socket cap screw is used wherever a countersunk, flush surface is required and a hex key (Allen wrench) is the preferred drive method. Common applications include machine frames, electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment panels, and fabricated steel assemblies. The black oxide finish reduces light reflection and provides a degree of surface protection in dry or mildly humid environments. The fully threaded shank maximizes thread engagement in thinner materials, which is useful in sheet metal or thin-plate applications common in trade work.
Designed as a standard inch-series flat socket cap screw compatible with any 1/4-20 UNC tapped hole requiring an 82-degree countersunk seat per ASME/ANSI B18.3 and ASTM F835.
Install using a 5/32 inch hex key or Allen-drive bit; a T-handle or L-key provides adequate torque for most light-to-medium duty assemblies. Ensure the mating hole is properly countersunk at 82 degrees to allow the flat head to seat fully flush. De-energize any electrical enclosure or equipment before accessing fastened panels or covers. Black oxide does not substitute for a corrosion-inhibiting coating in wet or outdoor environments — apply a compatible thread sealant or lubricant if moisture exposure is expected.
