The VALUE COLLECTION 367-0482 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Sized for 3/4-16 UNF (Unified National Fine) thread, it cuts right-hand threads using a high-speed steel (HSS) body that holds an edge under repeated use. Rethreading dies are used by mechanics, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians to rehabilitate fastener and fitting threads without replacing the entire component. The hex body allows direct engagement with a standard open-end wrench or die stock, making field use practical.
This die is suited for repair and maintenance applications across industrial, mechanical, and trade environments. The 3/4-16 UNF specification is common on hydraulic fittings, fasteners, and shaft threads found in equipment used in HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical service. It is appropriate for both shop bench work and field repair where thread damage has occurred from corrosion, impact, or cross-threading.
Designed for use on 3/4-16 UNF right-hand external threads. Suitable for any application requiring restoration of this thread size and pitch in high-speed steel-compatible materials.
Thread restoration with a rethreading die is typically performed by experienced mechanics or maintenance technicians. Before use, clean the damaged thread area of debris, burrs, and corrosion to allow the die to track the existing thread properly. Apply appropriate cutting fluid to extend die life and improve cut quality. Do not force the die past resistance — back off periodically to clear chips and prevent binding or die breakage.
