The VALUE COLLECTION 36673 is a standard coupling nut designed to join or extend threaded rod, all-thread, and fastener assemblies using a 1/2-13 UNC thread form. Machined from steel with a zinc-plated finish for basic corrosion resistance, this hex coupling nut measures 1-3/4 inches overall length (OAL) with 11/16 inches across the flats. It carries a Material Grade 2 designation, making it suitable for general-purpose mechanical and structural fastening applications. The right-hand thread direction follows standard UNC convention. Licensed tradespeople, maintenance mechanics, and fabricators reach for this part when extending threaded connections or anchoring hardware to structural members.
This coupling nut is used in a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial fastening scenarios. Common applications include threaded rod extensions in HVAC hangers and pipe support assemblies, electrical conduit support strut work, plumbing pipe hanger rods, and general structural fabrication. The 1/2-13 UNC thread is one of the most common coarse-thread sizes in North American trade work, so this nut sees frequent use wherever threaded rod needs to be lengthened or two male-threaded fasteners need to be joined end to end.
Designed as a standard 1/2-13 UNC coupling nut compatible with any male-threaded fastener, bolt, or threaded rod conforming to the UNC 1/2-13 thread standard. Suitable for use with Grade 2 threaded rod and hardware of matching thread specification.
Installation requires a standard 11/16-inch wrench or socket. Verify that mating threaded rod or fasteners are clean, undamaged, and of matching UNC thread class before assembling. De-energize or depressurize any system before disturbing hanger rod assemblies supporting mechanical or electrical equipment. For structural or load-bearing hanger applications, follow applicable code requirements including ASCE 7 loading criteria and local mechanical or building codes.
