The VALUE COLLECTION 365-2004 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads without removing the fastener or workpiece from service. Sized for 2-4-1/2 thread specifications, this die cuts right-hand threads to the Unified National Coarse (UNC) standard. It is machined from carbon steel, providing the hardness needed to re-form threads on common fasteners, bolts, and threaded rod. Maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and millwrights keep rethreading dies like this on hand for field repair work where replacing a threaded component is impractical.
This die is suited for shops, maintenance facilities, and field service kits where large-diameter UNC fasteners are common. The 2-4-1/2 sizing makes it applicable to heavy industrial fasteners, structural hardware, and large-diameter threaded rod encountered in mechanical and industrial maintenance. It is used wherever a bolt or stud has suffered thread damage from corrosion, impact, or cross-threading and needs to be returned to serviceable condition quickly.
Designed for use on external threads conforming to the Unified National Coarse (UNC) standard at 2-4-1/2 sizing. Compatible with standard hex die stocks sized for large-diameter dies.
Rethreading dies are typically used by maintenance technicians and machinists. Before use, clean loose rust, debris, and burrs from the damaged thread area using a wire brush. Secure the workpiece or fastener to prevent movement during operation. Apply cutting oil to the die and thread surface to reduce friction and extend die life. Follow shop safety practices and wear appropriate hand protection when handling dies and working with damaged fasteners.
