The VALUE COLLECTION 365-0070 is a hex rethreading die designed to clean and restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners, bolts, and threaded rod. Built from carbon steel, it handles the mechanical stress of thread chasing without deforming. The die is sized for 8-32 threads, which is a number 8 diameter with 32 threads per inch in the Unified National Coarse standard. Right-hand thread direction matches the standard fastener convention used across virtually all general mechanical and trade applications. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and field service pros reach for rethreading dies when a bolt or stud has picked up rust, paint, or impact damage that prevents proper nut engagement.
This die is suited for light maintenance, repair, and fabrication work in industrial, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade settings. The 8-32 thread size appears frequently in small-frame electrical enclosures, control board mounting hardware, panel components, and light structural fasteners. The hex body allows a standard wrench or die holder to drive the tool with controlled torque, making it practical for both bench work and in-place field repair where a tap-and-die set may not be available.
Designed for use on external 8-32 UNC right-hand threaded fasteners including bolts, screws, and threaded rod in general mechanical maintenance and repair applications.
Rethreading dies are used by machinists and maintenance technicians to restore damaged external threads rather than replace fasteners. Before use, secure the workpiece and apply cutting oil or thread lubricant to the damaged thread and die face to reduce friction and improve thread quality. Run the die straight onto the fastener, using light, steady pressure and reversing periodically to clear chips. Do not use this die to cut new threads into unthreaded stock — it is a chasing tool, not a full thread-cutting die.
