The VALUE COLLECTION 365-0066 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original 6-32 UNC specification. Built from carbon steel, this die delivers the hardness needed to chase and clean threads on fasteners, bolts, and threaded rod encountered in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general mechanical work. The 6-32 thread size is one of the most common coarse-thread machine screw sizes used in panel assemblies, equipment enclosures, and light-gauge hardware. The right-hand thread direction matches standard fastener rotation. This tool is used by technicians who need to salvage stripped or galled threads without full replacement of the fastener or component.
This rethreading die is suited for field and shop use wherever 6-32 UNC external threads need to be cleaned, restored, or chased. Typical applications include restoring threads on screws and studs in electrical enclosures, HVAC cabinet hardware, control panel fasteners, and plumbing fixture components. The hex outer profile allows the die to be driven with a standard open-end wrench or adjustable wrench, making it practical for confined spaces and field repairs without a dedicated die stock handle.
Designed for use on 6-32 UNC right-hand external threads on machine screws, bolts, and threaded studs in standard trade and mechanical applications.
Rethreading dies are typically used by electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and general mechanics performing field repairs. Before chasing threads, de-energize any equipment and relieve system pressure as applicable. Apply a thread-cutting lubricant to the die and the workpiece before use to reduce heat and improve thread finish. Turn the die slowly onto the damaged thread, backing off periodically to clear chips, and avoid forcing the die over severely deformed threads that may require additional preparation.
