The VALUE COLLECTION 365-0061 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original specification. Built from carbon steel, it handles the mechanical demands of chasing and cleaning 4-40 UNC threads on fasteners, bolts, and threaded rod. The die follows a right-hand thread direction, which is standard for the vast majority of fastener applications. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and general mechanical trades keep rethreading dies on hand for field repairs where replacing a threaded component is not practical.
This die is suited for light-duty rethreading tasks on 4-40 UNC fasteners encountered in electrical enclosures, control panels, small equipment assemblies, and instrumentation. The 4-40 designation indicates a 4 gauge screw with 40 threads per inch, a common size in low-voltage controls and small device hardware. The hex body style allows the die to be driven with a standard wrench or die stock holder for consistent torque and thread engagement.
Designed as an OEM-style rethreading tool for any application requiring restoration of 4-40 UNC right-hand external threads on bolts, screws, or threaded rod.
Thread rethreading dies should be used by qualified trades familiar with fastener sizing and thread standards. Before chasing threads, clean the fastener of debris, rust, and old lubricant. Apply cutting oil to the die and fastener to reduce friction and extend die life. Start the die squarely on the thread axis to avoid cross-threading or further damage to the workpiece.
