The VALUE COLLECTION 364-0241 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external metric fine threads to their original specification. Cut from carbon steel, this die handles M24x1.5 thread size and measures 1 inch thick. It is used to chase and clean existing threads on bolts, studs, and threaded rod without requiring a full die stock — a common task in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and industrial maintenance work. The right-hand thread direction matches standard fastener orientation for most metric applications. Mechanics, millwrights, and maintenance technicians keep rethreading dies on hand for field repairs where replacing a fastener is not practical.
This die fits M24x1.5 metric fine thread applications, making it suitable for equipment that uses fine-pitch metric fasteners, including HVAC equipment frames, pump flanges, and industrial machinery. The hex outer profile allows a standard wrench or adjustable wrench to drive the die by hand without a dedicated die stock handle, which is useful in tight or awkward service locations. It is equally at home in a shop toolbox or a field service kit.
Designed as an OEM-style rethreading tool for M24x1.5 metric fine external threads on bolts, studs, and threaded rod in general mechanical and trade maintenance applications.
Rethreading dies are installed and operated by mechanics, millwrights, and experienced maintenance technicians. Before chasing threads on a fastener that is still installed in equipment, isolate and de-energize or depressurize the system as required by the applicable service procedure. Apply cutting oil or thread-chasing lubricant to the fastener and die before use to reduce wear and improve thread quality. Start the die straight on the fastener to avoid cross-threading, and advance with steady, even turns using a wrench on the hex flats.
