The VALUE COLLECTION 364-0144 is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded external metric threads to their original specification. Built from carbon steel, it handles the mechanical demands of thread repair on fasteners, bolts, and threaded rod in both shop and field environments. The die is sized for M14x2 metric coarse thread and cuts in the right-hand direction. Licensed tradespeople and maintenance professionals in HVAC, plumbing, and industrial service routinely keep rethreading dies on hand for fastener recovery work during equipment repair and overhaul.
This die is suited for use on M14x2 metric coarse threaded fasteners found in mechanical assemblies, mounting hardware, and structural connections. It is used wherever external threads have been damaged by corrosion, impact, or cross-threading and need to be cleaned up without full fastener replacement. The hex body allows it to be driven with a standard wrench or adjustable wrench, making it practical for tight access areas during service calls.
Designed for use on M14x2 metric coarse external threads in accordance with standard metric thread specifications.
Rethreading dies are installed by a mechanic or service technician using a wrench sized to the hex body. Before use, clean loose debris and rust from the damaged thread area. Apply cutting oil to the die and the fastener to reduce friction and extend die life. Work slowly with light, consistent pressure and back off periodically to clear chips and prevent binding.
