The VALUE COLLECTION 363-7070 is a parallel-style cutoff blade designed for parting and grooving operations on lathes and other turning machines. Manufactured from M35 cobalt high-speed steel, this blade delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling, making it suitable for cutting tougher alloys and harder workpiece materials. The bright finish indicates an uncoated, ground surface ready for immediate use. At 6 inches in overall length, 5/32 inches wide, and 7/8 inches high, it fits standard blade-style cutoff toolholders used in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians reach for cobalt-grade cutoff blades when material hardness or heat generation would accelerate wear in standard HSS blades.
This blade is appropriate for cutoff and parting operations in both manual and CNC lathe setups. Its parallel profile maintains consistent width from front to back, supporting straight, clean cuts on bar stock, tubing, and turned workpieces. The M35 cobalt composition makes it a practical choice for stainless steel, high-nickel alloys, and other difficult-to-machine materials. It is sold individually and suits shops that require a single replacement blade or wish to evaluate the grade before purchasing in larger quantities.
Designed for use in standard blade-style cutoff and parting toolholders that accept a 5/32-inch wide, 7/8-inch high parallel blade with a 6-inch overall length, consistent with Industry Standard Number P5N.
Cutoff blades are installed and serviced by machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the lathe spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the blade in the toolholder. Clamp the blade securely according to the toolholder manufacturer's specifications, with only the required overhang extending beyond the holder to minimize deflection. Inspect the blade edge for chips or cracks before each use and replace the blade if edge integrity is compromised.
