The VALUE COLLECTION 315-1640 is a round threading die designed to cut external 1-3/4-5 UNC right-hand threads on fasteners, bolts, and round stock. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS), it delivers the hardness and heat resistance required for threading steel, stainless, and other ferrous metals under production or field conditions. The die measures 3 inches in outside diameter and features an adjustable design that allows the technician to fine-tune thread fit or take multiple passes when chasing worn threads. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance mechanics are the primary installers of this tool.
This die is suited for both shop and field applications where 1-3/4-5 UNC external threads must be cut or restored. The UNC (Unified National Coarse) thread standard makes it appropriate for general-purpose fastener production, repair work on threaded rod, and maintenance applications in industrial, mechanical, and construction environments. The 3-inch OD is a common size compatible with standard round die stocks and holders that accept 3-inch dies.

Secure the die firmly in a properly sized die stock before use. Apply cutting oil to the workpiece and die throughout the threading operation to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Ensure the workpiece diameter is turned or ground to the correct major diameter for a 1-3/4-5 UNC thread before threading. Inspect the die for chips or cracks before each use and store it in a protective case when not in service.
