The VALUE COLLECTION 262-2116 is a standard lathe mandrel designed to hold workpieces securely during turning, grinding, and finishing operations on a lathe. With a 1-1/4 inch face diameter and an overall length of 8 inches, this mandrel provides a stable, centered axis for machining operations that require the workpiece to rotate on a fixed arbor. It is a shop staple for machinists and toolroom operators working with bored or pre-drilled parts that need outside diameter work performed concentrically.
This mandrel is suited for general-purpose lathe work in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments. It is used when a workpiece must be driven between centers for turning or grinding the outer surfaces while maintaining precise concentricity with a bored hole. Trade machinists and apprentice toolmakers alike rely on standard mandrels for consistent, repeatable setups on conventional and CNC lathes.
Designed as a standard-style lathe mandrel for use with conventional between-center lathe setups accepting a 1-1/4 inch bore diameter workpiece.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Before mounting, ensure the lathe is fully powered down and the spindle is locked. The mandrel should be pressed or driven into the workpiece bore with an appropriate arbor press to achieve a secure interference fit before mounting between centers. Do not hammer the mandrel directly without a protective driver to avoid damage to the center holes.
