The VALUE COLLECTION 262-2014 is a standard lathe mandrel designed to hold workpieces securely during turning operations on a lathe. The mandrel features a 7/32 inch face diameter and an overall length of 3-3/4 inches, making it suited for small-diameter workholding applications. Machinists press the mandrel into a bored hole in the workpiece, then mount the assembly between centers to turn the outside diameter concentric with the bore. This tooling is commonly used in machine shops, tool rooms, and production environments where precise concentric turning is required.
This mandrel is appropriate for light-duty lathe work involving small-bore workpieces. It is used in applications where the workpiece bore has been finished to size and the outer surface must be turned or finished while maintaining concentricity. Standard lathe mandrels of this type are typically installed and used by machinists and toolmakers in general-purpose machining operations.
Designed as a standard-style lathe mandrel suitable for general-purpose between-center turning operations on lathes accepting small-diameter mandrel tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with lathe tooling and between-center setups. Ensure the lathe is fully powered down and at rest before mounting or removing the mandrel. The workpiece bore should be finish-reamed to the correct interference fit before pressing the mandrel in place. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during all machining operations.
