The VALUE COLLECTION 250691 is a reducing coupling nut designed to join threaded rod or fasteners of two different thread sizes in a single connection. It bridges a 1/2-13 thread on one end to a 5/8-11 UNC thread on the other, with a 1-1/4 inch overall length. Constructed from Grade 2 steel with a zinc-plated finish for basic corrosion resistance, this coupling nut suits mechanical and structural fastening applications where rod-to-rod or rod-to-stud joining is required. It weighs 0.8 pounds and features a right-hand thread direction on both ends.
This coupling nut is used in light structural, mechanical, and general-purpose fastening assemblies. It is commonly installed by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general contractors when extending threaded rod, anchoring equipment, or tensioning all-thread in suspended or surface-mounted installations. The 3/16 inch width across flats is appropriate for a standard open-end or box wrench during installation and tightening.
Designed as a standard reducing coupling nut compatible with 1/2-13 and 5/8-11 UNC threaded rod, studs, or fasteners in general mechanical and structural fastening assemblies.
Installation is performed by hand-threading onto both mating threaded components before final tightening with an open-end or box wrench. Ensure both mating threads are clean and free of debris before engagement to avoid cross-threading. Do not exceed the load rating appropriate for Grade 2 steel fasteners in the intended application. Consult applicable structural or mechanical codes for torque and load requirements on your specific assembly.
